Young Sheldon Star Iain Armitage Revisits His Character For Halloween: “Bazinga”
Despite Young Sheldon having wrapped in early 2024, one cast member has returned to their character for Halloween. Iain Armitage took on the role of the younger version of Jim Parsons’ The Big Bang Theory character in 2017, playing Sheldon for 7 seasons until this past May. After the loss of his father, Young Sheldon season 7 ended with Sheldon leaving Texas behind and heading to CalTech to continue his studies, leading into the events of the original series.
Armitage may have only just left the role behind, but the actor revealed on Twitter/X that a turn of events left him donning the costume once more. Check out his post below:
Revealing that his intended Halloween costume didn’t arrive in time for the holiday, the actor shared a brief video of himself in Sheldon’s costume, where he recited his character’s catchphrase: “Bazinga.”
While he joked that people were amazed by his resemblance to the character, Armitage would later follow up this post by stating that his original costume had arrived shortly after.
What Armitage’s Post Means For His Young Sheldon Future
The Cooper Family Reunion May Not Happen Any Time Soon
Though other members of Young Sheldon‘s cast have returned to the franchise in the currently airing Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, viewers shouldn’t expect to see Sheldon appear in the spin-off in its first season. While Mary (Zoe Perry), Missy (Raegan Revord), and Meemaw (Annie Potts) have each appeared within the series’ first few episodes, it is established that Sheldon is quite busy studying at CalTech.
Despite this, Armitage’s willingness to embrace his former role does align with past comments that set up a future return to the Young Sheldon world. Armitage stated in May that returning to play Sheldon again would be an honor he would be open to. As such, it would not be unlikely for Sheldon to visit his brother’s small family on occasion, especially if Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage continues for as many seasons as Young Sheldon had.
Our Take On Armitage’s Young Sheldon Halloween Tribute
The Franchise Still Resonates With Viewers
While not his first role, Sheldon Cooper is Armitage’s most well-known character. He has been recognized for his work on several occasions and firmly set his portrayal apart from Parsons’ original. While an early role like this could be intimidating for many, it is clear that Armitage isn’t afraid to embrace and celebrate his time as Sheldon. Though the show might have only ended several months ago, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s success shows that viewers are still keen to learn about the Cooper family‘s exploits. As such, many will appreciate Armitage’s fun Halloween throwback to the original Young Sheldon.
