New ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Image Unleashes an In-Law Feud of Biblical Proportions
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns tonight with a brand-new episode titled, “A Regular Samaritan.” The episode will follow Georgie (Montana Jordan) as he joins a new congregation and expands the McAllister business to his church. As you might have guessed, Georgie’s congregation is not one that he is familiar with, and neither is his new Reverend, Pastor Jeff (Matt Hobby). The Christian minister played a role in the life of the Coopers across the seven seasons of Young Sheldon. And while we knew the Reverend would be returning to Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, we weren’t exactly clear how.
However, a newly released image by CBS, via TV Line, has offered a pathway for Pastor Jeff to return. It has been revealed that the minister will return in a February episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Hobby will not be the only Young Sheldon alum to be returning in the episode. Georgie’s mother, Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry), will return to reprise her role. The February episode is titled “A House Divided,” and sees Mary and Audrey McAllister (Rachel Bay Jones) experiencing a bit of conflict. Describing the state of play in the episode, series co-creator Steve Holland explains, Mary and Audrey “compete for their granddaughter’s love,” in “A House Divided.”
The Minister’s Job Is Multi-Faceted on ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’
Hobby’s Pastor Jeff will play mediator between the two grandmothers, albeit Holland isn’t exactly sure how the minister is performing, saying, “I don’t know that he’s doing great, but he’s certainly trying to [mediate].” Holland, who co-creates Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage alongside Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, goes on to break down the challenge Pastor Jeff faces in this bit of conflict resolution. He said:
“Mary and Audrey butt heads, they don’t see eye to eye, and that’s a fun thing we haven’t gotten to explore. To put them head to head… felt like a really fun episode to do — and when we were breaking that story, it also seemed like a great chance to bring Matt Hobby back. It was so much fun to have him, and so much fun to put [those characters] in front of an audience and get a little Pastor Jeff sprinkled in our lives again.”
So far, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has proven to be a melting pot for some of our most beloved characters from Young Sheldon, including Emily Osment as Mandy, Will Sasso as Jim McAllister, Reagan Revord as Missy Cooper, Craig T. Nelson a
